MANILA, Philippines – Results of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration's (OWWA) Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) exam for school year 2020-2021 are released online on Thursday, July 2, 2020.
OWWA announced the new set of 400 scholars under EDSP. They bested 4,006 examinees coming from the 17 regions and two Kingdom of Saudi Arabia cities-Riyadh and Al Khobar.
This year, the most number of qualifiers comes from the National Capital Region with a total of 53 scholars.
OWWA similarly welcomes the new batch of scholars under the Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP).
The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) conducted the qualifying examination on October 20, 2019 in various testing centers nationwide to identify the top 400 qualifiers who will earn a scholarship slot in the EDSP and slots for the CMWSP.

Meanwhile, the CMWSP is a program extended to deserving migrant workers and/or their immediate descendants who intend to pursue 4 or 5 year courses in the priority fields in Science and Technology. It was created by virtue of Republic Act 8042, otherwise known as the Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Act of 1995 under section 37, Article lX with an educational assistance is P 60,000.00/year funds from the PCSO.

Last year, results were released in more than six (6) months after the exam. Eighty-four of the EDSP grantees came from Region IV-A while the National Capital Region and Region III had 46 each. 20 slots were given for CMWSP.
In the 2017 exams, OWWA also announced results in more than 6 months after the test or on April 24, 2018. Of the 3,249 children of OWWA members who vied for the Undergraduate Scholarship Examination, only 13.85% made it to the top 400 slots enlisted for the EDSP and 50 slots for the CMWSP.

Due to the bulk of examinees in 2019 as well as the on-going Enhanced Community Qurantine, the DOST-SEI has not yet endorsed the official result of the said pre-qualifying examination.
Official results from DOST-SEI shall be the basis of the OWWA in releasing the top ranking OWWA examinees (scholarship applicants) to qualify the EDSP and CMWSP for SY 2020-2021.
OWWA shall provide updates once the results of the exam came in from the DOST-SEI.
